About Us
We have run many courses in conjunction with Pete Wilby Triathlon and his team of lifeguards to encourage people aged 50 and over to discover what sea swimming is all about. Please check out his website www.petewilbytriathlon.co.uk
Aspire to Seaswim courses are based at Trinity School pool and Teignmouth Central Beach and provide sea swimming opportunities with many positive outcomes. You set your own goals and we help you achieve them. Our past swimmers have amazed themselves in what they have achieved in a short time, from improving their stroke technique to building fitness, water confidence and overcoming any fears that may have been holding them back.
We pride ourselves on being inclusive, and reach out to anyone who feels that they are held back from enjoying the benefits of sea swimming because of various health or disability issues, whether physical or through mental health and wellbeing. You will be made very welcome.
Our programme focuses on swimming rather than just cold water immersion. There are up to 20 swimmers just like you who enjoy being part of a 1 hour once a week, 8 week course. The course consists of 2 initial 25m pool sessions, to introduce you to the team and build confidence in the water. This is followed by 6 sessions in the sea. We provide you with a warm welcome and a hot cuppa after your swim (generally with some home made cake!). Starting the sea sessions off with a beachside warm up, we then enjoy a sea swim with Pete providing coaching and his team of lifeguards both beachside and in the sea, along with our volunteers swimming with you for that extra coaching, support and encouragement. There is also lots to learn about swimming in the sea and understanding sea conditions, so we arrange for the local Lifeguards and the Coastguards to have a chat with you.
Come and dip in to what is on offer.
We hope you enjoy browsing our website and learn about the team, course
information, links and supporters.
